I got inspired after watching The Red Shoes (1948, dir. Michael Powell, Emeric Pressburger) for the first time. From Wikipedia:
- it was voted the 9th greatest British film of all time by the British Film Institute
- in 2017, a poll of 150 actors, directors, writers, producers and critics for Time Out magazine saw it ranked the 5th best British film ever
- filmmakers such as Brian De Palma, Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, and Steven Spielberg have named it one of their all-time favorite films and Roger Ebert included it in his list of Great Movies
Agree completely. It was so ahead of its time and I would've loved to have seen how mind blown people were at that time when they first watched it. This movie made me really think about ballet and just how insanely difficult it is. I can't even balance on one foot flat on the floor 😄 The lifelong training that dancers go through is next level dedication. Kudos to them all.
